YOU DIDN’T REALLY THINK I’D WRITE ABOUT SOMETHING ELSE, DID YOU?

I’m almost obligated to write about this game for fear of my job.  Maybe someday I’ll write about the non-major title of the week.  For now, though, I’ll stick with the big ticket title that hit shelves and caused a stir.  Halo Wars is a real-time strategy game based in the same universe as the exorbitantly popular first-person shooter series on the Microsoft consoles.  Real-time strategy games are usually the domain of PC, due to the complex controls needed to handle giving orders to 20 separate units on various places of a huge map.  Many companies have tried to put PC RTS games on the console with various levels of success.  Halo Wars, on the other hand, was designed from the beginning with a controller in mind.  The result is a rather simplistic RTS game that has great graphics and a decent campaign.  Sadly, you can only play as the humans.  No Covenant campaign where you spread your theocracy across the galaxy through force and attempt to eradicate those heathens called “humans”.  That’s what multiplayer is for, I guess.
