SURE IT’S PRETTY BUT DOES IT REPRESENT THE FUTILE STRUGGLES OF MANKIND?

Posted by Play N Trade staff writer, 2nd Dec 2008

The beautiful watercolor lines.  The amazing landscapes.  The shadowy creatures that want to devour all life.  It’s not a painting.  It’s the latest version of Ubisoft’s Prince of Persia sliding into stores this week.    With the Sands of Time trilogy completed, the developers decided to take a different approach on the new generation of systems.  Instead of photo-realism, they chose a very stylized and fantastic painted look for the game.  The gameplay is also more open ended, allowing you to choose your path through the various areas of the magical gardens.   Each one is different depending on the order you attempt them.  Later areas will be filled with more of the corruption of Ahriman, a powerful evil that was sealed away 10,000 years ago and is on the loose looking for revenge.  At your side is Elika, a mysterious and magical princess that will help you in your quest to cleanse the evil corruption before it escapes into the world.   But is it art?  Maybe not, but I’m good with poetry in motion.
