DIDN’T I SEE THOSE GUYS IN THE FINAL FANTSY XIII TRAILER?

It’s time for yet another sequel to yet another first-person shooter. This time, we’re revisiting the glowing orange-eyed soldiers of the Helghast army in Killzone 2 for the PS3. Early reviews of this game have been extremely positive. Most are calling this a must-own game for Sony’s console. One or two of them are being pretty down on it for the “lack of innovation.” I ask you, why is that so bad? Yes, it is important to keep growing and trying new things. But, once in a while, it is just as important to make sure you still know how to do what you already know. The positive reviews talk about how they have taken the mechanics and gameplay ideas that have been a part of FPS games for years and polished them until they work so well that the quality of the graphics is no longer the primary focus of discussion. Considering that the graphics on this game have been the primary selling point for the past three years since it was announced, that’s a pretty impressive feat. Killzone 2 hits store shelves on Friday, February 27th. And, I still say those soldiers in the Final Fantasy XIII trailer look a lot like Helghast that seem to have hopped on the wrong train.
